Challenge
Create a Retail Lab where new services, new approaches to the retail space, and programs for small business owners can be tested before going national in a setting of a live and functional Post Office.
Insight
Small business owners are the main consumers that visit the Post Office daily and are very busy multi-taskers who like to do things themselves and like the conveniences of having a one-stop destination.
Idea
Make the Post Office the "3rd destination" for small business owners. (1st being home and 2nd being work.)
How it works
By building a modern Post Office from scratch, this enables The Postal Service to create the perfect spacious, inviting environment that meets all of today's small business owners needs...including getting coffee or free WiFi. From renting a conference room to self-service stations for packing and shipping to friendly employees greeting and engaging with the customers out from behind the counter made the new Post Office favorable and changed negative perceptions amongst the small business owner community. Created hype and excitement for this new Post Office during the annual USPS Retail Convention and with the grand opening event that was later caught on the local news and publications.
Results
Walk-in revenue had increased by 32% and became the #1 self-service Post Office in the nation.
